Herbal & Natural Medicine

Plants and natural medicines have been used to support health and wellbeing for centuries. At Petal & Paw, natural medicine may form part of an individualised wellness plan, selected according to your pet's unique needs, history and circumstances.

My approach draws from several natural medicine traditions, including Western herbal medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), homeobotanicals and homeopathy.

Western Herbal Medicine

Western herbal medicine uses medicinal plants and their active constituents as part of a personalised approach to wellbeing. Herbs may be selected to support areas such as digestion, skin and coat health, general vitality and other aspects of your pet's wellbeing.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a holistic approach to health, considering the individual animal and patterns within their overall wellbeing. TCM herbal principles may be incorporated into a personalised wellness plan where appropriate.

Homeobotanicals

Homeobotanicals combine herbal medicine with the principles of homeopathy, using preparations made from plants and other natural substances. They may be incorporated into an individualised wellness approach based on your pet's needs.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of complementary medicine based on the principle of using highly diluted substances selected according to an individual's presentation. Where appropriate, homeopathy may form part of a broader holistic wellness plan.

Nutrition & Supplements

Nutrition is at the heart of your pet’s wellbeing. The right diet can provide the foundations for healthy digestion, energy, vitality and long-term wellbeing — but there is no single diet that is right for every animal.

At Petal & Paw, I take a personalised approach to nutrition, considering your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, health history, current diet and individual needs.

What we may explore:

Diet Assessment
A review of what your pet is currently eating, including their main food, treats, chews, table scraps and feeding routine.

Nutritional Balance
Looking at whether your pet's current diet is providing the nutrients they need and identifying areas where their nutrition could be improved.

Dietary Recommendations
Practical, personalised guidance around commercial diets, fresh foods, home-prepared diets and feeding routines, depending on your pet's individual circumstances.

Supplements
Where appropriate, nutritional supplements may be recommended to complement your pet's diet and support specific areas of wellbeing. Recommendations are individualised and take into account your pet's diet, medications and overall health.

Targeted Nutritional Support
Additional nutritional support may be considered for areas such as digestive health, healthy weight management, skin and coat condition, healthy ageing and general vitality.
