Your Questions, Answered
-
Animal naturopathy takes a holistic approach to your pet's health and wellbeing. It considers your pet as an individual, looking at their nutrition, lifestyle, environment and overall wellbeing to identify ways we can support their health naturally.
At Petal & Paw, recommendations may include nutritional changes, supplements, herbal medicine and other natural therapies where appropriate.
-
We'll take a detailed history of your pet, including their current diet, lifestyle, health history, medications, supplements and any concerns you have.
We'll then discuss your pet's individual needs and identify areas where nutritional and natural support may be beneficial.
Your consultation is relaxed and conversational, and there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
-

Where appropriate, recommendations will take your pet's veterinary treatment, medications and health history into consideration. With your permission, we can also work alongside your veterinarian to support a coordinated approach to your pet's care.

-
Yes. Online consultations are available and can be a convenient option for pets and owners anywhere in New Zealand.
You'll receive the same personalised approach as an in-person consultation, and we can discuss your pet's diet, lifestyle, health history and individual needs from the comfort of home.

Before your consultation, it is helpful to have:
Your pet's current diet and feeding routine
A list of medications and supplements
Their recent veterinary history and diagnoses
Any recent blood test or veterinary reports you have available
Details of their exercise and lifestyle
A list of your main concerns or questions
Don't worry if you don't have everything, we'll work through it together.
-
Following your consultation, we'll put together your personalised recommendations and discuss how to implement them at home.
Depending on your pet's needs, this may include dietary changes, supplements, natural therapies, lifestyle recommendations or other supportive strategies.
We'll also explain what to monitor and when to seek veterinary attention.

-
Yes. Where appropriate, we can recommend nutritional supplements and natural products to support your pet's individual needs.
We'll consider your pet's diet, health history, medications and other supplements before making recommendations.
Supplements aren't automatically appropriate for every pet, and we focus on recommending them where there is a clear reason to do so.
